The mission is to create a world-class centre of excellence for pursuing interdisciplinary research in Nanoscience and Technology and to impart high-quality post-graduate education to students in all frontier areas of Nanoscience & Technology. The Department of Nanoscience & Technology is one of the recently started Departments at the University of Calicut. The Department is funded by UGC under XI plan. UGC has sanctioned one professor, one Associate Professor, one Assistant Professor and also financial assistance for equipment. The Department has initiated an M.Tech program in Nanoscience &Technology with an intake of 10 students. The M.Tech course is programmed in the semester pattern with research-oriented elective papers and project work. With the fund allotted from the UGC grant, the Department has set up an M.Tech lab, Instrument room, classroom, computer room etc. and purchased equipment for the M.Tech lab. The Department also offers a PhD program in the areas of alternative energy sources, sustainable nanomaterials and carbon nanomaterials.
